Case study - student tax refund claim
Name: Richard Henton
Work status: Student and part time employee
Refund obtained: £324
Richard is a typical student. He enjoys going out with his mates, playing football, eating pizza & (as he puts it) “occasionally finds time to get some studying done"
To fund his lifestyle he worked two jobs whilst studying. During term time he worked as a delivery driver for a brewery in Cheltenham, whilst in the summer and Easter holidays he worked in a theme park back at home
Richard isn’t very good at paper work; he didn’t even know he was paying tax. He’d kept a piece of paper called a P60 for his first job but had nothing relating to his work in the brewery for the last few years.
He completed the online sign up, downloaded the letters that needed to be signed, and sent them to taxdoctor in the post. We were then able to get straight on the case.
Taxdoctor contacted Richard’s former boss and managed to get copies of the important tax documents on his behalf.
These showed that he had indeed been paying tax, too much tax. Taxdoctor made a claim and it was successful.
Six weeks after contacting taxdoctor Richard received £324 as a payment straight into his bank account.
